What quality and format you get
Instagram stores videos as MP4 files and serves them from its CDN. When you download with SavePost, you get that same MP4 stream — the file Instagram itself stores — not a re-compressed copy. That matters for two reasons: the resolution matches what the app shows, and the encoding stays untouched, so you don't lose sharpness to an extra compression pass.
"HD" on Instagram simply means the best stream the platform keeps for a given upload. Feed videos are often delivered at 720p or 1080p, and Reels are typically 1080×1920. Screen recording captures whatever the app displays: the play button, the caption bar, the like count, and the on-screen resolution of your phone — which is often lower than the real file.
